Shopaholic tag

I just came across this tag and had never seen it before so I couldn't resist! Also I haven't blogged in ages because of my new job so I thought this would be a relatively quick and easy one to do! I tag all the Irish bloggers out there if you haven't done this tag already!!

WARNING *I sound like more of a miser than Scrooge in this*

How old were you when you realized you were a shopaholic?
I hated shopping for anything but makeup until I was 20 and my boyfriend at the time broke up with me - I didn't mind so much about the boyfriend part but being single made me look at my wardrobe and realize that I dressed horrifically - (ugly jeans and an ugly jumper every day) so I started shopping every Saturday and I became really interested in fashion and it spiraled from there. I've loved make up shopping since I was about 15 though.

How do you feel after shopping, and do you have any weird habits you do after shopping?
I always feel a sense of achievement and contentment after shopping if I have picked up something really lovely or a good bargain. When I come home from shopping I always show my sister to see what she thinks of what I bought and make her guess how much everything cost.

What are your top 5 favourite stores to shop at and why?
1: Sam McCauleys - quite controversial but Boots don't stock Essence and Catrice make up which are big favourites of mine and I have found Sam McCauleys to be cheaper than Boots for some things (e.g. L'oreal true match foundation is €10 in Sams and €15 in boots).

2: Boots - because it has a bigger range than Sam Mc Cauleys and the boots by opera lane in Cork is incredibly massive - I could spend days there!

3: H&M - by far my favourite clothes shop - gorgeous good quality clothes that are definitely affordable and they usually have reduced price clothes around the place too.

4: Zara - especially TRF; Zara is a good bit dearer than H&M but the clothes are of a higher quality so if I was getting an investment piece I'd pick Zara

5: New Look - some of the clothes in New Look do not appeal to me at all, but most of them do. They are also usually reasonably priced. I also love New look shoes!!

What item do you have the most of in your closet?
Skirts - I have a million!

Whats the most you have ever spent on 1 shopping trip?Probably about €100 - I'm definitely a bargain shopper and I don't buy too much at once because I can't afford it!

Do you ever experience shoppers regret?
Yeah sometimes, especially because I have a tendency to buy things to cheer myself up but I just take them back - no harm done :)

What was something you regretted buying?
There's been a good few items that I haven't worn at all and can't convince myself to throw them out! I probably most regret buying the clothes I did when I was 16-19 because I got a lot of teenager-angsty stuff and clothes that most people don't wear until their 40's....

What is your favourite thing to buy?
Make up and clothes.

Do you buy the same items in different colours?
I definitely do with tops from Penneys, or if I buy something that really suits me I'll often buy it in multiple colours.

Do you ever use dressing rooms?
Always! Who doesn't use dressing rooms?!

Do you prefer to go shopping alone, or with others?... and who is your favourite shopping buddy?I generally prefer shopping alone because none of my friends are very into shopping. Sometimes my sister and I go together because we share a lot of our clothes anyway. I also like bringing the boyfriend so he can hold clothes I need to try on (especially for TK Maxx) but I usually feel guilty and so my shopping trips are short lived.

If you could go shopping with a Celeb who would it be and why?
I do not think I'd like going shopping with a celeb - not a big one for celebrity culture and I'd be way too intimidated!

If you could go shopping with a Blogger/Youtube guru who would it be and why?
Probably Jenn Im from clothesencounters or any of the Irish bloggers/youtubers because they are lovely and they'ed be great fun!

Whats your favourite, treat, snack, drink during or after shopping?
I never buy food or drink in town because it is too expensive! I just wait til I get home!

What is something you have always wanted to buy but never had the money to do so?
An iphone, proper noise cancelling headphones, Rae Morris brushes, a rose gold Michael Kors watch, a mulberry bag...the list goes on

If you had £1000 to spend on anything you want, what would you splurge on?
I think I'd probably buy as much of the above as I could with presents for the fam too.

Are you a proud shopaholic?Yeah, I think having (girl)friends who aren't very interested in shopping and mostly guy friends makes me feel quite proud to be as girly as I am.

Now you go! :D

Fun and Flirty Valentines make up

Personally in a way I think it's probably a bit silly wearing pink eyeshadow or lipstick solely because it's valentines day...at least based on my experiences people either won't notice at all or they will think you are love obsessed if you've gone overboard on the slap! Having said that the irrational make up addict in me tells me I should definitely have special make up for the occasion - I don't even like valentines day or celebrate it besides wishing people a happy one but for some reason the day demands a pink and girly look and heart shaped jewelry in my mind. There are already a plethora of Valentines day looks featuring pink eyeshadow and I wanted to do something a little different so I created this flirty but low maintenance valentines look....
I technically did two very similar looks - one using the elf hd blusher in diva on my lips and the other using Revlon lip butter in lollipop.

ELF HD Blush Review

Two things: 1. I very much love ELF cosmetics and 2. I also very much love liquid/cream blushes; so, you can probably guess therefore that when ELF released liquid blushes I HAD to get my hands on them and try them out. Unfortunately for me, being a lady of the internet (currently unemployed - sadface) I had to be patient and wait for a sign from the money gods that I would be able to purchase them and lo and behold last week there was a 48% off sale (if that's not a sign I should go mad and buy all round me I don't know what is!). Being not only a girl, but a beauty obsessed girl with an obsession for bargains and online shopping I purchased all five colours of the HD blushes of course (sure it'd be rude not to with a 48% off code!). Here's what Elf have to say about their product "Rich and creamy HD Blush naturally sculpts and highlights the cheekbones for a soft-focus effect that is great for everyday use.". The blushes are €4.50 (£3.75) for 10mls of product which is amazing compared to Make Up For Ever's price of €28.00 for 10mls.

Thoughts: These blushes are CRAZY pigmented, and I don't use capital letters+bold+italics+underlining lightly - honestly I pumped out a little too much blush on my hand when I was playing with them and it covered my entire hand bright pink - it was incredible! One fault I had with these is that when I first pumped one of the blushes a load of watery stuff came out minus any pigment but this can be rectified if you give them a good shake before use.

I cannot say enough how b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l these blushes are, they are incredible! Also - I totally used one as a lipstick and I found it really moisturizing which is like a double plus! These also set on your face - you can see my hand where I tried to wipe the blushes off with tissue and it stained my arm!

If you need more proof you can check my video review out where I am wearing "Headliner" on my cheeks and "Diva" on my lips.

Verdict: 5 million gold stars to ELF for an incredible product with an incredible price tag.
